The nine enneagram types
and Star Trek examples
Follow the hyperlinks for essays on characters in each show.

More will be added on an ongoing basis, so check back for new material. The character lists are subject to additions, subtractions and changes as I see fit! There are some characters from the original series and from "Enterprise" but not all; I don't know TOS as well, and we're still getting used to the "Enterprise" folks.

One
Preoccupied with a  set of standards or rules against which they measure themselves and the world. At their best, Ones are principled, honest and objective. At their worst, they are judgmental, overly critical and inflexible.
Two
Seek to gain love and approval by giving to others. At their best, Twos are altruistic, selfless and nurturing. At their worst, they are manipulative, hypocritical and prideful.
Three
Seek to be successful in the world's eyes. At their best, Threes are energetic, competent and put their talents towards the betterment of themselves and others. At their worst, they are overly competitive, deceitful and opportunistic.
Four
Wish to be seen as unique; live in their imagination and feelings. At their best, Fours are creative, compassionate and witty. At their worst, they are hyper-sensitive, self-pitying and depressive.
Five
Seek to avoid intrusions upon their privacy and to collect knowledge. At their best, Fives are wise, perceptive and knowledgeable. At their worst, they are stingy, withdrawn and misanthropic.
Six
See the universe as a dangerous place and seek to keep themselves safe from that danger. At their best, Sixes are courageous, loyal and hardworking. At their worst, they are paranoid, defensive and obsessed with authority figures, either by slavishly following them or senselessly rebelling against them.
Seven
Seek to avoid pain by pursuing new experiences and future possibilities. At their best, Sevens are multi-talented, positive and generous. At their worst, they are selfish, irresponsible and escapist.
Eight
Desire to feel powerful and dominate their environment. At their best, Eights are inspiring leaders, protective of those in their charge and concerned with justice. At their worst, they are abusive, destructive and follow a Darwinian "only the strong survive" ethic.
Nine
Seek harmony and peace in themselves and their environment. At their best, Nines are loving, modest and are natural mediators. At their worst, Nines are overly accommodating, stubborn and apathetic.
